On May 7, my team hosted our tenth annual student art competition exhibition and reception at VisArts in Rockville. Local professional artists judged all submitted artwork and selected 62 high school students’ artwork for display. From those, 35 were chosen as runners-up and one piece was selected as the winner.

Congratulations to Victoria Alexander, a junior at Wootton High School, who took home the top prize for her beautiful piece entitled A Warm Embrace.

Victoria’s piece is displayed in the Cannon House Office Building tunnel connected to the U.S. Capitol with other winning student artwork from across the country. Runners-up in the 8th District competition are on display at my District Office in Rockville.

I appreciate all the gifted student artists who shared their talents with us. We encourage everyone to participate again and to keep beautifying the world with their amazing artistic vision and arrangements.
