WASHINGTON,D.C. - U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Congressmen Jamie Raskin and David Trone (all D-Md.) today announced more than $7.7 million in federal funding to expand services and access to Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) in Montgomery County, Maryland.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has put an increased strain on the mental health of countless Americans and further illuminates the need for increased access to mental health care in our communities. This new federal funding will expand the life-saving mental and behavioral health services of our community clinics, ultimately empowering and providing critical support for Marylanders through these challenging times,” the lawmakers said. “We will continue to fight to secure additional funding for our CCBHCs and mental health providers.”
The award of $7,749,503 comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under a grant program for CCBHCs, which were created by Congress under the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014. The funding is broken down as follows:
- $3,986,782 – Ivan Walks & Associates, LLC (Silver Spring, Md.)
- $3,762,721 – Cornerstone Montgomery, Inc. (Montgomery County, Md.)
Last April, Congress approved $250 million in emergency COVID-19 funding to increase access to CCBHCs during the pandemic, in addition to $200 million in regular, annual appropriations.
