When Jamie Raskin first entered politics as a candidate for the Maryland State Senate, in 2006, he ran on an agenda that seemed to many out of reach. He wanted to abolish the state’s death penalty, restore voting rights to those with felony convictions, impose a ban on military-style assault weapons and legalize same-sex marriage.
