WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner, Jerrold Nadler, Brad Schneider, Jan Schakowsky, Jamie Raskin, Jake Auchincloss, Becca Balint, Suzanne Bonamici, Steve Cohen, Lois Frankel, Daniel Goldman, Josh Gottheimer, Sara Jacobs, Greg Landsman, Mike Levin, Kathy Manning, Jared Moskowitz, Dean Phillips, Adam Schiff, Kim Schrier, Brad Sherman, Elissa Slotkin, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Susan Wild issued the following joint statement in response to an interview between Tucker Carlson and Nazi apologist Darryl Cooper:
“As Jewish Members of Congress, we are appalled that Tucker Carlson hosted and promoted Nazi apologist and Holocaust denier Darryl Cooper on his podcast. Cooper made deeply troubling statements, including that the United States was on the ‘wrong side’ in the Second World War, and falsely claiming that millions of Jews in concentration camps 'ended up dead' only because the Nazis did not have the resources to care for them. Not only did Carlson provide a platform for Cooper’s ignorance and hate to millions of viewers, he also promoted Cooper by calling him ‘the most important popular historian in the United States.’
“This revisionist and morally repugnant retelling of history is an insult to the six million Jews who were methodically murdered at the hands of the Nazi regime and is especially dangerous now as antisemitism is on the rise globally.
“It is also concerning that Elon Musk called the discussion ‘very interesting’ in a post on his platform X, and Republican Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance refused to condemn Carlson for promoting Cooper when given the opportunity to do so. Acceptance of hateful ideologies by people in power puts Jews and other targeted minorities across the world at great risk.
“The normalization of Nazism is unacceptable and dangerous, and must be forcefully condemned. Americans deserve to know that their leaders will rebuke the cancers of antisemitism and Nazism whenever and wherever they appear.”
