WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Congressmen Steny Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Andy Harris, M.D., Anthony Brown, Jamie Raskin and David Trone today announced $5,515,055 in federal funding to strengthen Community Health Centers (CHCs) across Maryland.
“This new round of federal funding will provide our Community Health Centers with additional supplies and resources to improve the delivery of critical health care services to underserved Marylanders – including residents in rural communities and in communities of color,” the lawmakers said. “Team Maryland is thankful for the sacrifices made by our frontline health care workers, especially those who serve at Community Health Centers. We will continue working to secure funding that increases access to high-quality and affordable health care for all Marylanders.”
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Funding is broken down as follows:
- $2,321,065 – Family Health Centers of Baltimore, Inc. (Baltimore, Md.)
- $1,919,812 – Walnut Street Community Health Center, Inc. (Hagerstown, Md.)
- $1,274,178 – West Cecil Health Center, Inc. (Conowingo, Md.)
Last year, the Maryland delegation announced more than $15 million in federal funding for CHCs, and another $6.9 million to increase testing capacity at CHCs.
