WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Andy Harris and Jamie Raskin (all Md.) announced $118,174 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the improvement and modernization of bus systems in Carroll County. Administered through the Maryland Department of Transportation, the funds will allow Carroll County to purchase buses to replace older vehicles – helping to maintain an updated fleet and improving service reliability.

“Many Marylanders rely on safe, dependable public transit, including those working on the front lines during this pandemic. This award will allow Carroll County to upgrade its bus fleet with new vehicles and better serve the community. We will continue working to expand and modernize transit throughout Maryland,” the lawmakers said.

Per DOT, the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program makes federal resources available to states and direct recipients to replace, rehabilitate and purchase buses and related equipment and to construct bus-related facilities.
