(WASHINGTON, D.C.)—This week, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Rep. Jamie Raskin, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, held a hearing on the ways the Trump Administration is undermining LGBTQ rights. 


  • The Trump Administration has distorted religious liberty based on a misinterpretation of law and faith and turned it into a pretext for denying LGBTQ citizens equal participation in the economy and society.
  • Witnesses testified that without express statutory protections for LGBTQ people, the Trump Administration’s systematic rollback of regulatory protections and increased use of religious exemptions threatens equal access to basic human needs for LGBTQ people and families.
  • The Trump Administration has used executive orders, litigating decisions, amicus briefs, legal interpretations, agency guidance and regulations to undermine protections for LGBTQ people—and even the ability to foster or adopt
