(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Today, House Democrats released a new video, “Death by a Thousand Cuts: Undermining the Russia Investigation,” amid mounting threats from the White House and Trump’s lawyers to shut down Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal.

The video features constitutional law professor and Vice Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee Congressman Jamie Raskin, who outlines Trump’s efforts to obstruct – and ultimately end – the investigation and explains the implications for our democracy and the rule of law. On the question of whether Trump’s efforts have created a constitutional crisis, Raskin noted that Trump “refuses to accept the norms, values and boundaries of the constitution. The President is attacking it and the principle that no one is above the law.”

“Death by a Thousand Cuts” aptly describes Trump and House Republicans’ year-long, relentless campaign to obstruct the Special Counsel’s investigation, starting with the firing of former FBI Director Comey and the shameless attacks to discredit the DOJ, the FBI and Special Counsel Mueller, to smokescreen subpoenas and recent threats to impeach Attorney General Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein.

The Special Counsel’s investigation has yielded five guilty pleas – three involving top Trump campaign officials and 22 indictments, yet House Republicans and Trump allies continue to undermine Mueller’s investigation – jeopardizing our democracy, national security and the rule of law in the process – all to protect President Trump.
