(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congressman Jamie Raskin released the following statement on the death of his constituent Jonathan Shurberg:

"I am saddened by the untimely death of Jonathan Shurberg, an impassioned Democrat and great Marylander who had an unquenchable thirst and contagious zest for progressive politics.

“Jon was not only a walking encyclopedia of Maryland and American campaigns and elections but an exuberant political warrior and a gifted writer who helped pioneer Internet political journalism and organizing. His Maryland Scramble was an indispensable go-to resource for Maryland's political activists of all stripes, and his passing leaves a vast silence where his voice belongs.

“We will miss him along with his beloved wife and life partner Rebecca Lord, who was my very first political director. Jon and Rebecca's wonderful sons, Eli and Ethan, have the support and love of a large community of friends and admirers. We are here for them whenever they need us."
