(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08) released the following statement commemorating Veterans Day on Saturday, November 11, 2017:
“This Veteran’s Day weekend, our immense gratitude and appreciation go out to millions of veterans who fought and served honorably to keep the peace in America.”
“I’m proud to represent Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), which is in Bethesda, and to be a member of the Congressional Military Mental Health Caucus. We need to listen carefully to veterans in order to strengthen the programs that help servicemembers reenter civilian life.”
“We owe our veterans immediate and serious improvements in the delivery of high-quality health care, higher education, affordable housing, therapeutic services, and economic opportunity. I’m committed to working with veterans in Maryland and my colleagues in Congress to improve the lives of all our nation’s veterans.”
“It was a deeply moving experience to honor Vietnam-era veterans recently at a Vietnam War Commemoration Pinning Ceremony, the first in a series that my office is hosting around the 8th District. It was my pleasure and honor to present commemorative lapel pins and congressional certificates to these impressive veterans and, in some cases, their surviving families as small tokens of our nation's enduring thanks and appreciation for their service during a long and agonizing war.”
