100+ House Democrats Call on Mitch McConnell to Stop Blocking the American Dream and Promise Act

June 23, 2020
Press Release

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08) joined more than 100 House Democrats and Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) in calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to schedule a vote on the American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6), legislation that passed the House of Representatives a year ago and would give Dreamers a path to citizenship. Last week, the Supreme Court’s landmark decision rejected the Trump administration’s repeal of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

The Members wrote: “With Republicans in the majority, the United States Senate has failed to challenge the most anti-immigrant President in modern history.  It is not too late to change course. As Majority Leader, you can immediately schedule a vote in the Senate for the American Dream and Promise Act.  It would be an American tragedy to deport DACA recipients who are saving lives in the midst of this pandemic.”
